Seven years in prison for stealing infant


Mbozi District Court Songwe province sentenced to seven years imprisonment, Happness Mwakisyala (28), a resident of Architects, Tunduma after admitting the error of wanting to steal a baby at the age of 12 at the district hospital.

Magistrate Court, Nemes Chami said after the defendant's own confession that offense, it notes that the court ilijidhirisha condemn the prison sentence of seven years in order to be a lesson for others because the practice has started to flourish in communities in the district.

"The Court does not see a reason to take a long time in this case, because the defendant himself has admitted his mistake, and the court is satisfied his notes and made part of the Republic, so I am giving to convict the accused and he will go to jail for seven years," he said.

Initially the prosecutor, Samuel Siro urged the court to give severe punishment to the accused due to the excessive actions of stealing children in the community right now to be a lesson to others with similar intentions.

The accused had allegedly committed the offense at 11 the morning of May 11, this year, where deliberately entered the maternity ward in Mbozi district hospital and steal a baby boy then to hide the toilet before leaving him.
