ZAITAJIKA 2 BILLION IN THE SUPPLY OF GAS HOUSEHOLD


Parliament stated that the Ministry of Energy and Mines requires SH2 billion for domestic gas supply in the regions of Lindi, Mtwara and Dar es Salaam.




Deputy Minister of Energy and Mining, Dr. Medard Kalemani said yesterday that the gas supply project can be completed by July.


Dr. Kalemani cited the full amount of gas required to house the people in those regions cubic meters between five million to 10 that are likely to be found is great that there is enough gas.


Deputy minister was responding to a supplementary question Mtwara Urban MP (CUF), I have gathered Maftaha who wanted to know the amount and cost incurred for domestic distribution.


On the basic question, the MP wanted to know when the government will stop transport gas from Mtwara to Dar es Salaam Kinyerezi, so that citizens can benefit first Mtwara and employment derived from the processing of natural gas and building industries.


However, the deputy minister said the new energy policy of 2015 and the Gas Policy of 2013 aimed at providing opportunities for natural gas to benefit the entire population, including citizens of the area inakopatikana resources.


He said there are two projects transporting natural gas from Mtwara and Lindi to Dar es Salaam. Dr. Kalemani said one project is new osafirisha gas from Mtwara which was completed in 2015, while another is Songas completed in 2004 when gas inayochakatwa Madiba, Mtwara transported by pipeline to Mkuranga.


He said the government through the Organization of Tanzania Petroleum Development (TPDC) is implementing a project to connect the gas factory in Mtwara available Dangote that will require approximately 45 million cubic feet.
